Introduction
We spend a lot of time thinking about insurance events at InsTech. Over the past two years, we have hosted more than 60 events for 7,000 attendees, so we have developed a reasonable instinct for which events are worth the time.
We are now spoilt for choice when it comes to insurance events in the London Market. There are large conferences, specialist forums, evening briefings, Lloyd’s market events, technology showcases and broker gatherings. The challenge is no longer finding something to attend, but deciding which events are genuinely worth the time.
This is my practical guide to the insurance events I think are worth putting in your calendar, especially if you work in or around the London Market. It includes InsTech events, because those are the ones where I can be most specific, but it also includes events run by others where I think the audience, format or content makes the trip worthwhile.
What are the best insurance events for London Market professionals?
The best insurance event depends on what you need.
For specialist catastrophe, climate and exposure management content, Exponential Risk London is the strongest fit. For AI implementation in specialty insurance, Agentic AI London is the more focused option. For MGAs, delegated underwriting and capacity conversations, MGA London is designed around the questions that market is already asking.
For broader market networking, Insurtech Insights Europe, Insurance Innovators London, London Insurance Week and the BIBA Conference are useful in different ways. For regular practitioner-led updates, InsTech evening events, London Market Forums and Lloyd’s Academy are worth following throughout the year.
The simple rule is this: choose large events for breadth and relationship-building, specialist events for depth, and year-round forums for staying current.
InsTech events
I’ll start with ours, because that’s where I know the numbers and can be most specific.
InsTech events focus on where and how technology, data and analytics intersect with specialty insurance, with a particular focus on the London Market. The audience is usually a mix of insurers, Lloyd’s syndicates, brokers, MGAs, reinsurers, technology companies, data providers and professional services firms.
Exponential Risk London: best for catastrophe, climate and exposure management
Annual, two days, March — The Mermaid London
Exponential Risk London is our flagship conference. It brings together the catastrophe modelling, exposure management and climate analytics community for two days of sessions, breakouts and networking.
The 2025 edition sold out at more than 370 attendees from 150 organisations. The 2026 edition had more than 460 registrations before tickets ran out.
The audience is specialist by design. The people in the room are cat modellers, exposure managers, underwriting leaders and climate risk professionals from Lloyd’s syndicates, reinsurers, brokers and specialist MGAs. The speaker roster runs to more than 85 across the two days, and the programme is built by an advisory panel of 25 practitioners.
If you work in catastrophe or climate risk, this is the one London event I would put in your diary without qualification. The rest of the year’s content, webinars, Exponential Risk TV and the dedicated newsletter, exists to support this community between editions.
Agentic AI London: best for AI implementation in specialty insurance
Annual, full day, July — London
Agentic AI London grew out of a half-day session in November 2025 that sold out at 350 attendees. The July 2026 edition has been expanded to 450 in response to demand and is co-produced with AI Risk.
The focus is narrow and intentional: not AI in insurance in general, but the shift from AI experimentation to enterprise-scale deployment.
That matters because a lot of insurance AI discussion still gets stuck at the level of broad opportunity. This event is designed for organisations that are already past the “should we care?” stage and are now trying to answer harder implementation questions.
How do you move from pilots to production? How do you govern agentic AI? How do you build the operating model around it? How do you prove commercial return? And what happens when AI starts to sit closer to live underwriting, claims, operations and distribution workflows?
The audience is insurers, Lloyd’s syndicates, brokers and MGAs working through those questions in practice. If your organisation is still deciding whether to invest in AI, this probably is not the right room yet. If you are working through how to get from pilots to production, it is.
MGA London: best for delegated underwriting, capacity and MGA strategy
Annual, full day, September — Cavendish Venues
Our dedicated event for the MGA community, targeting 350 delegates. The agenda runs across five questions the room is already asking: how do you retain capacity when carriers get more selective? How do you use technology to underwrite better, not just operate faster? What makes your business worth backing? How do you prove governance without losing pace? And what kind of business do the best underwriters actually want to join?
The programme is designed around the practical business conversations MGAs are having in the market today. Capacity providers are on stage, not just in the audience, which makes the discussions about what carriers now expect from delegated underwriting more honest.
This is not intended to be a generic distribution event. It is for people who want to understand how the MGA model is evolving as capital becomes more selective, governance expectations rise and underwriting performance comes under closer scrutiny.
InsTech evening events: best for regular London Market networking
Monthly, central London — 200 to 300 attendees
These are our regular community events, run monthly throughout the year on topics ranging from algorithmic underwriting to flood risk to claims automation. Format is consistent: short, snappy sessions followed by a networking reception with food and drinks. No all-day commitment, no travel required.
They work well for staying current across topics you’re not focused on full-time, and for maintaining relationships across the London market without blocking out a full day. Free for insurers, brokers and MGAs.
InsTech webinars
Regular throughout the year — online
Worth mentioning separately because they serve a different purpose to the in-person programme. Our webinars typically run 30 to 45 minutes and pull between 100 and 800 registrations depending on topic. They’re a good way to test your interest in a subject before committing to an in-person event.
The webinar programme covers the full range of topics InsTech tracks: catastrophe and climate risk, AI and platforms, underwriting, claims, distribution and parametric. If you’re new to InsTech and want to get a sense of the community before attending an event, the webinar archive is a reasonable starting point.
Insurance events I would recommend beyond InsTech
The London Market is too broad for any one organisation to cover properly. These are the events and programmes outside InsTech that I think are worth knowing about.
BIBA Conference: best for UK broking and distribution relationships
Annual, two days, May — Manchester
The British Insurance Brokers’ Association conference is not a London event geographically, but it draws a London audience and is worth the journey if distribution and broking relationships are part of your work.
The scale is its main value. Thousands of insurance professionals are in one place for two days, which compresses months of relationship management into a very short window.
It is less suited to deep technical discussion and better for market-wide relationship building, distribution conversations and keeping a pulse on the broking market.
Insurtech Insights Europe: best for a broad view of insurance technology
Annual, two days, March — InterContinental London The O2
Insurtech Insights Europe is one of the largest insurance technology conferences in Europe, with thousands of delegates and hundreds of speakers across two days.
The scale means the programme is broad and the audience is mixed: startup founders, group digital leaders, investors, technology vendors, consultants and insurers.
It is not the place I would choose for deep specialist conversations, but it is genuinely useful for getting a wide view of where the insurtech market is moving and for the quality of the side conversations it generates.
If you have not attended before, treat the first visit as orientation rather than a tightly structured learning exercise. The value is often in understanding the shape of the market and then deciding who you need to follow up with afterwards.
London Insurance Week: best for understanding the London Market as a system
Annual, September — Central Hall Westminster
London Insurance Week is a newer event that has grown quickly, bringing together a cross-section of the London Market for a multi-day programme.
It has a broader scope than most events on this list, spanning insurance, reinsurance and capital markets. That makes it suited to people who want to understand the London Market as a system rather than one particular segment of it.
It is less specialist than Exponential Risk or Agentic AI London, but more market-wide in its framing. That breadth is the reason to attend.
Lloyd’s Academy and market events: best for market education and CPD
Year-round — Lloyd’s building, London, and online
Lloyd’s runs a programme of market education events and courses through the Lloyd’s Academy throughout the year, covering everything from emerging risks and new markets to underwriting fundamentals and regulatory updates.
These are not networking-first events. They are educational, often CPD-accredited, and free to market participants.
If you are newer to the London Market, or looking to deepen your understanding of how specific parts of it work, the Lloyd’s programme is underused relative to how useful it can be.
How to choose the right insurance event
Different events serve different purposes, and the best calendar uses them accordingly.
Large-scale conferences such as BIBA and Insurtech Insights are for breadth, market scanning and relationship maintenance.
Specialist events such as Exponential Risk, Agentic AI London and MGA London are for depth on specific questions.
Year-round programmes such as InsTech evening events, London Market Forums and Lloyd’s Academy are for staying current without blocking out full days.
The events worth attending consistently share one characteristic: the audience has self-selected around a specific topic or community, not just around the idea of being in a room together. That is what determines whether the conversations you have are useful or generic.
If you are trying to build a sensible calendar, I would not start by asking “which events are biggest?” I would ask:
- Who do I need to meet?
- What do I need to understand better?
- Do I need breadth, depth or regular market contact?
- Which event has the most relevant people in the room?
That usually gives you a better answer than looking at headline delegate numbers alone.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best insurance event in London?
There is no single best insurance event in London. It depends on your role and what you need. Exponential Risk London is strongest for catastrophe, climate and exposure management. Agentic AI London is best for AI implementation in specialty insurance. Insurance Innovators London is more focused on senior strategy and transformation, while Insurtech Insights Europe gives a broader view of the insurance technology market.
What are the best London Market insurance events?
Useful London Market events include InsTech events, London Market Forums, Lloyd’s Academy events, Insurance Innovators London and London Insurance Week. The best choice depends on whether you want specialist content, practitioner discussion, senior strategy or broader market networking.
Which insurance events are best for MGAs?
MGA London is the most directly relevant event for MGAs if you are focused on delegated underwriting, capacity, governance, underwriting performance and growth strategy. Broader events such as BIBA, Insurance Innovators and InsTech evening events can also be useful depending on whether you are looking for distribution, strategy or market relationships.
Which insurance events are best for insurance technology?
For insurance technology, the most relevant options are InsTech events, Agentic AI London, Insurtech Insights Europe and Insurance Innovators London. InsTech and Agentic AI London are more focused on specialist implementation questions, while Insurtech Insights Europe provides a broader view of the technology vendor and startup market.
Are large insurance conferences worth attending?
Large insurance conferences can be worth attending if you are clear about why you are going. They are useful for breadth, market visibility and relationship-building. They are less useful if you need deep technical discussion or a highly specific practitioner audience. For that, specialist events and smaller forums often work better.
Where should someone new to the London Market start?
If you are newer to the London Market, start with a mix of Lloyd’s Academy events, London Market Forums and InsTech evening events. That gives you education, practitioner discussion and regular market contact without committing to several large conferences immediately.
Final thought
The London insurance events calendar is not short of options. The harder part is deciding which ones genuinely deserve the time.
My advice is to be selective. Choose a few large events for market visibility, a few specialist events where the audience is exactly right, and a regular rhythm of smaller forums or evening events to stay close to the conversation.
If you are not sure which InsTech events are relevant to your work, the best starting point is the events page, which covers the full programme and makes clear who each event is designed for.
