About this event
Insurance has spent the last few years talking about AI as well as pricing automation and transformation. But for many firms in the London Market, the real question is no longer what these technologies might do in future. It is what is already working in practice today, where it is delivering value, and what that means for underwriting, operations and pricing.
That matters because the market is moving from experimentation to execution. New technology is now being deployed across core insurance workflows, while pricing teams are under increasing pressure to move beyond spreadsheet-based processes and adopt infrastructure that can handle larger datasets, faster model updates and more scalable decision-making.
This event, hosted by InsTech in partnership with Google, V7 and Optalitix, focused on what is live now rather than what is still hypothetical. The discussion looked at where a new generation of technology has already been implemented across insurance, what benefits customers are seeing, and what lessons others can take from those deployments.
There were two sessions that explored how AI is being used, and how insurers are modernising their pricing capability to implement new technology and future-proof their business for AI:
1. AI in insurance: The session with V7 explored practical examples of AI workflows already in production across the global insurance market, including use cases in submissions, risk engineering, exposure management and claims.
Key topics included:
- where in the insurance value chain AI is being most heavily deployed
- what measurable value it is creating
- what the deployment of agentic AI means in practice for insurance workflows
2. Pricing modernisation: Optalitix demonstrated how significant new product upgrades allow their clients to modernise their pricing capabilities, speeding the move towards cloud-based platforms, scalable, Big Data infrastructure and more flexible analytics environments that support better and faster underwriting and pricing.
Key topics included:
- how insurers are moving from spreadsheet-based pricing to modern pricing stacks using the latest cloud and data technology
- the infrastructure needed to scale analytics, analyse pricing data and make better pricing decisions
- how insurers can separate proven deployments from market hype

What it actually takes to get AI working in underwriting
Most AI projects in insurance don’t fail at the proof of concept stage – they fail when teams try to scale them. Robin Merttens speaks with John Somerset-Irving from V7 about what it takes to move AI into operational use across underwriting workflows: where insurers and MGAs most commonly get stuck, how to pick a first use case that delivers results, what a realistic implementation looks like and how to handle the persistent practical challenges.

The pricing challenge
Pricing isn’t just complex – it’s fragmented. Insurers are working with ever-growing volumes of data spread across systems that don’t talk to each other. Models are slow to update, workflows are disconnected, and scaling pricing operations becomes increasingly difficult. And if tools don’t deliver clear value, they don’t get used.
Robin Merttens speaks to Dani Katz on how Optalitix is helping insurers move beyond these limitations – bringing data, models and workflows together in a single, scalable environment. From small datasets to enterprise-scale portfolios, pricing becomes faster, more flexible and easier to manage. Dani will explain how Optalitix simplifies complexity, accelerates model updates and creates the foundation for AI-driven pricing, within a system built for every stakeholder: Actuaries, Underwriters and Executives.
Less manual effort. Fewer errors. Better decisions.
