About this event

Flood events around the world are getting more complex, with new hazards and new types of exposure. New approaches are now available to assess flood risk for insurers, brokers and risk managers, using advanced frameworks that consider both hazard and vulnerability.

InsTech is hosting a live webinar in collaboration with Verisk, Aviva, Guy Carpenter and Flood Re. The session will introduce Verisk’s latest UK and Ireland inland flood model and review issues such as assessing the risk for individual locations compared to portfolio-level analytics. We’ll be exploring how the technology available today is providing more opportunities for insurers and others to overcome past challenges. Finally, we will review how resilience can reduce property damage overall.

Topics include:

  • Why now?
    • Why is Verisk updating its Great Britain inland flood model and developing a new model for Ireland and what do these updates mean for underwriting, pricing and reinsurance strategies?
  • Accounting for resilience:
    • How to address real-world improvements such as the Flood Re “Build Back Better” initiative and the inclusion of property-level resilience measures.
  • Enhancing flood underwriting and portfolio management:
    • How high-resolution modelling, improved hazard data and advanced exposure analytics can support more accurate risk selection, pricing adequacy, portfolio accumulation management and capital planning.

Speakers:

  • Caroline McMullan, Assistant Vice President, Verisk Extreme Events Solutions
  • Chris Boss, Head of Catastrophe Modelling, Aviva
  • Sam Bray, Vice President, International Peril Advisory, Guy Carpenter
  • David McNamara, Head of Catastrophe and Climate Risk, Flood Re

This webinar is ideal for those working in pricing, exposure management and catastrophe modelling at reinsurers, insurers, brokers, MGAs and corporate risk managers.
